Class Response Paragraph Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a book by Judith Viorst. Alexander is a boy about 9 years old who wakes up certain that he is going to have a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. He woke up with gum in his hair and tripped over a skateboard. He wanted to go to Australia because he wanted to get away from his very bad day. His best friend said that he was only his third best friend. The shoe store was sold out of the shoes he wanted. Alexander didn't get what he wanted and no one would listen to him throughout the day. This book reminds us that everyone has bad days, even in Australia.
Mr. Schmidt Brain Rules by John Medina
This fascinating book outlines 11 different brain rules that the author recommends for reaching people most effectively. The book is not dull or boring to read, and the content is very useful. The one complaint that I have about the book is the author's constant referrals to evolution as the reason for our brains operating in the way they do. Since this is a secular work, I would expect nothing less than that, but it is still a little distracting to me when he continually makes references to evolutionary theory.

This book attempts to explain the change in society that the Internet has brought about. We have gone from having huge companies handing us our information to receiving information (and contributing our own) from a mass of individuals. This has resulted in a democratizing of the dissemination of information from large companies to the people. This fascinating book is as much a commentary on our society as it is an explanation of recent history.

If anyone is looking for a great gift for any teacher (hint, hint), this book would be perfect! The wright three is about three kids: Petra, Tommy, and Calder. The three of them try to save a famous house called The Robie House. then tommy finds wright's tailsman. A tailman is something that it supose to bring you luck. Then they go into the 90 year-old house and find that two men were in the house tiring to set it into flames so they could get paid, but to them it looked like the house was alive! it flung one of the men of the roof! the house was saves by The Wright Three!
